Therefore in 1895/96 Muang Sing came under French control. French troops were permanently stationed. Near the southern corner of the town they erected a military fort, thereby destroying the ancient city wall in that sector. Other stationed nearby LuangNamtha Airport , then they setup the trail from LuangNamth to Muang Sing by start from PhoumPoukStupa to Ban Nam Yang (Akha village), continue walk around 2 hours you will see two separate of the trail as:

  1. On the left side continue to cogon grass of mountain, on the top of higher mountain around 1,900 meters from the sea level, where the French setup Army station, from her you will see LuangNamtha and Muang Sing valley, so French Army use this area to resist Laos independent part, from her to Muang Sing you will time around 2 hours.

  2. On the right side walk pass Ban Nam Mutkao (Akha village) on the end of the mountain to PhaYueng Waterfall and continue walk to Ban Pong Kok (Akha village), Ban Xieng Mon (Tai Lue Village), Ban So (Tai Lue Village) and down to Muang Sing area.

Twice of the trail only sue for walking and horsing. In 1954 the French had to leave the Kingdom of Laos. American coming to replace, they continue improve the trail for running by car and setup American Army in the top of the mountain.

After finish improve the trail in February 1962 , next two month as the midnight of third May 1962, Laos independent part was

allowed by Chinese officer from Bo Han (Laos-China border in LuangNamtha) to Pang Thon (Laos-China border in Muang Sing) to surprise attack American Army on the early of 4 May 1962 and to liberate Muang Sing.

And that time Laos independent part continue resist by using the old Falangs Trail and can control the American Army Station on the top of the mountain for Laos independent part stronghold and can liberate LuangNamtha on 6 May 1962.
